Ellen Young - Media Director

EllenYoungEllen Young has over 20 years of experience as a Media Buyer/Media Planner, meeting clients’ needs for newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, cable and online media.

As a freelancer, Ellen managed a highly successful Media Planning and Buying Consultancy, planning and negotiating the purchase of $2 million advertising dollars annually for KPIX-TV and Crescent Jewelers (including television, radio and print). She most recently planned and purchased a variety of targeted media for Amdro Fire Ant, Valley Healthwide Centers, Insound Medical, Sonus Hearing Care Professionals, PODS and Kikkoman.

During a hiatus from media planning, Ellen provided marketing and media guidance for Dimensions in Travel, Novato, increasing the agency’s revenue through research, creation and marketing of group travel and cruises.

Previously, she was Media Supervisor at DJMC Advertising, San Francisco, where she oversaw a staff of 5 that serviced Northern California McDonald franchisees and Marine World, increasing billings by 15%.

Before that, Ellen was Senior Planner at J. Walter Thompson Advertising, San Francisco, for 5 years, creating media plans for Burger King franchisees in the U.S. Western Region that were later used nationally. For BK, she wrote and presented annual television and radio campaigns for 30 U.S. cities for 3 years. She also created print, radio and television plans for 3 divisions of Chevron USA and negotiated all magazine advertising.

Finally, she began her career negotiating television and radio advertising for TOMY Toys, Alhambra and Sparkletts Water at Sachs, Finley & Co. in Los Angeles for 4 years, where she also reviewed and reconciled all contracts and invoices for these accounts.

Ellen earned her B.A. from UCLA in History.
